Faculty – Humanities OMARI AVERETTE-PHILLIPS
Omari Averette-Phillips is an educator from Long Beach, Calif. He has worked for many Southern California schools, but has always had great affection for the Sequoyah community. He has previously been a long-term Sequoyah substitute teacher at both the K-8 and high school campuses and has worked in the aftercare program as well. Omari has a BA in History with an emphasis on American History and will soon be completing his MA in History from Claremont Graduate University with a research focus on Reconstruction and Black Political Organization in the 19th Century. Omari looks forward to working with the students at Sequoyah’s High School on a number of different topics. Omari loves to read, cook, spend time with his wife and their dog, and go to soccer matches.
