Melinda is delighted to be joining the Sequoyah community, where the themes of connection, diversity and inclusion, creative and critical thinking, and stewardship are all practiced and celebrated. A global nomad for most of her life, Melinda grew up in South Korea and completed her undergraduate studies in Missouri. She began teaching in the Pacific Northwest where she earned her Master’s in Mathematics Education from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and has more than 20 years’ experience teaching high school math, including many years in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Following the call to explore this amazing world, her teaching experiences in International Schools have carried her and her family to Bolivia, the United Arab Emirates, Costa Rica, Nigeria, Kenya, and South Korea. In her spare time, Melinda takes every opportunity to get out into the great outdoors.
